OVERVIEW
AVALINA is a beautifully appointed 2019 Palm Beach 65 Flybridge, with all the comforts of a luxurious go-anywhere motor yacht. The owner, an engineer, spent 18 months of his busy life enjoying the build, and working directly with the design team at the Palm Beach Motor Yachts factory, to create his dream cruiser.
With and overall length of 71'10" and beam of 19'1", there is plenty of volume onboard to accommodate all the essentials to make Avalina a supreme long-distance cruiser with all the facilities for extended getaways.
Her Flag Blue hull is complimented by the signature carbon fibre Palm Beach Cream deck and superstructure, and finished with a beautiful high-gloss golden teak toe rail, to show off the stunning curves and generous tumblehome.
BOW AREA:
Walk-around side decks make for an easy transition to the foredeck sun pad and bow rider lounge. A removable "Sahara" sunshade adds both protection from the sun, and an intimate atmosphere to the bow rider for the end of the day wind down and anchor watch.
COCKPIT, GARAGE AND SWIM PLATFORM:
The expansive cockpit is designed for entertaining with an aft bench seat across the transom and mirror-finished teak table. Add the designer folding chairs and there is comfortable seating for 8. A meticulously hand-laid Burmese teak deck enhances this area and is both easy to maintain and great under foot. The cockpit also has a fixed sun awning to provide a very open, shaded area for all after water activities.
When the time comes to launch the tender after lunch, the cockpit raises via remote to reveal the as-new 3.1m AB RIB with 15HP Mercury outboard on a self-launching cradle. Once launched the carbon fibre Opac Mare comes into action as either a tender dock or submersible step-down swim platform.
There is a fridge and icemaker located in cockpit’s wet bar, and a flip-up Twin Disc joystick conveniently located in the benchtop for ease of docking. There are 3 joysticks in total onboard Avalina.
FLYBRIDGE:
Large raw teak treads on the stairs, and polished stainless steel handrail make for a safe entry to the large flybridge. 2 x fully adjustable Stidd captain’s chairs give the skipper and crew a comfortable secure seat for the run up the coast. The Stidd chairs rotate all the way, and when facing the L-shaped lounge the bridge becomes a great social spot for lunch or a sunset. There is plenty of storage under the flybridge eyebrow for life jackets and boat covers, and two handy ice chests under the aft facing bench seat.
The Garmin navigation package is repeated on the bridge with every control and interface within easy reach from the captain’s chair. The Twin Disc joystick on the bridge is a great vantage point for tricky parking or approaching your secluded anchorage spot.
SALOON & HELM:
Entry to the salon via the cockpit is by way of solid high-gloss teak bi-fold doors, inset with toughened glass. The salon features an L-shaped leather lounge to port, and custom 2x2 seater twin facing lounges to starboard compliment the raised dinette area, to provide 3 options for dining & relaxing inside. The helm seat is a custom 2-3 person wide bench, finished in hand-made diamond stitched Hermes “Burnt Orange” leather, to match the raised dinette opposite. These benches are a showcase of style and workmanship, and the helm offers excellent visibility and full 360º vision.
Power is delivered from twin Volvo 1,000HP D13's coupled to Sea Torque shafts and controlled by either the Twin Disc joystick or twin levers. Maneuvering is further supported by continuously rated hydraulic bow and stern thrusters.
The beautifully hand crafted teak and polished stainless spoked steering wheel drives Avalina with the lightest of touch, with navigation and general cruising all made even easier with the Garmin multifunction displays and Volvo Glass Cockpit. All the helm controls are housed in an exquisite high-gloss exposed-twill carbon fibre dash, that fits perfectly with the rest of the dark themed custom fittings onboard. The helm console is then wrapped in double-stitched mahogany brown leather that continues through to the chart drawer.
Electric drop-down windows are located port, starboard and aft, with the one adjacent to the helm designed to also provide easy access to side deck when docking or just let in the sea breeze.
The electrical switchboard is within reach of the helm and incorporates AC, DC and generator operation, all enclosed in a teak cabinet, so it is hidden when not required.
GALLEY AND ACCOMMODATION.
A well regarded designer with a great (Italian) flare for working with the Palm Beach style was engaged to assist with all the linen, fabrics and finishing touches that help make "Avalina" the unique and luxurious motor yacht she is today.
The master stateroom features a king size walk-around island bed and is located amidships. Natural air and light flows into this cabin via the overhead hatches and plenty of portlights. The ensuite has some further exotic touches including a carbon fibre sink with custom black tapware, and a matching carbon fibre head. The full-size shower continues the theme with polished stainless fittings and custom carbon highlights complimenting the signature v-join walls and low sheen golden teak cabinetry. All the heads onboard follow this theme.
The galley is down several stairs from the helm, and central to the master, forward VIP and crew cabins. It features a large custom L-shaped Corian benchtop with return lips and ample space for preparation. A Zip faucet is located at the aft end of the benchtop to provide instant chilled and boiled water on tap. Dual fridges and a freezer provide plenty of cold storage for provisions, with more storage space under the galley sole.
In the forward VIP, guests and crew are very well accommodated for with a queen sized berth, ensuite and good hanging space and storage. The crew / guest bunk room is self-contained aft of the galley, with surprising head room in the full sized shower and head area. The washer/dryer is located in a concealed teak cabinet, accessed by the crew cabin.
Stabilised with SeaKeeper 9, Avalina will easily reach a 30 knot top speed, and a 25 knot cruise gives a 650 nautical mile range, or 1,600nm at 10 knots. This is the smoothest ride you will have on the seven seas.
